Panzer Talk
Panzer Talk
Do not lump Panzer Talk with the retro genre: free-folk. This is the rootsy sound of the depressed Mid-West, the lost American Dream, and the uncertain future. In the tradition of such notable artists like Neil Young and Simon and Garfunkel, Panzer Talk’s songs are commensurate with a sensitive to our own frailties; they can evoke parched days on a dusty porch or wooly campfire evenings with friends. On “Gears” Kenny’s poignant lyrics swing softly from a forbidden tree; once bitten, the listener has no choice but to accept their authenticity. On “The Birth of Coal” generations after the Industrial Revolution, Panzer Talk etch away the dirt of the past and let it fall like chips of white paint from an decaying house. Their music is stripped of all decadence, all the crust of opulence, and reveals the truth - the very essence - that lies in a guitar string or brass cymbal.
